Audio Bleeding

In both 6.0.3 and the previous version I have a problem that I'm not sure is Live or my MOTU 828. I have an Impulse MIDI clip (and no other audio) playing - when I record enable an audio track I see the input levels bouncing slightly. When I record I get an ever-so-faint version of my Impulse track - slightly distorted I suppose.

Muting the Impulse track causes the level meters on the record-enabled track to stop bouncing so it is definitely that track causing the issue in this case. Lowering the input levels on the MOTU 828 "solves" this problem but then all my levels are off and I have to crank other stuff (synths) to make up for the lack of gain in the 828. The 828 input levels are only at about 50% so I'm not sure they should be causing this to occur. Happens on all 828 channels.

I don't think this is an Impulse issue neccessarily either but just comes out with that track since it's loud and percussive.

Anyone else have this problem or see anything like it? Thanks!

PS: I should add that the input for the track is the 828 in (stereo) and the master out is what seems to be bleeding. My point being that there is no obvious internal "Live" routing that is causing the bleed.

OK - IGNORING the fact that this is a MOTU 828 - has anyone else seen this type of problem?

may be of no help, but I had a similar prob with a US-122 card. The problem only happened when the headphone level was turned up...possibly something similar? Apologies if way off track...

Thanks for the tip. I totally revamped all my levels (across my synths, board, interface, etc.) and have the issue under control. It sucks that it happens at all but what can you do? Thanks.

i have an emu 1820m and couldnt figure out why i was having this same problem for weeks (i obviously didnt try too hard). fucked around and turned that down earlier today and its all good. strange ...

Hi,
I have seen a similar problem in the past with a Creative Audigy 2 Zs Platinum. The fix was to bring up the "io" display, and watch which inputs are hot when you play. My problem was that I had a set of inputs that were playing _all_ of my channels and a set that was just the currently armed channel. When I set to just the currently armed, the bleed went away.
I have used an 828 in the past and didn't encounter your issue. Might be worth trying out this fix, though.

Is the "io" display you refer to a part of Live or in the driver software for the audio interface? I'm presuming you mean the interface. Thanks!

I meant the feature in Live. You can toggle it on and off on the lower right-hand side of the window. Also, you may want to check on the input configuration in preferences to make sure that everything is cool there.
