Runtime Error! live wont work now

Post by dubbyah » Mon Jun 26, 2006 1:12 am

I have been using ableton succesfully for awhile now, and one day this error came up out of no where. I made no changes or anything.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime error!

this aplication has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

i am running the 64 bit version of windows. AMD 3000 CPU

i tried reinstalling it several times,
and i tried installing the old version of live and the error came up the same thing.

what should i do? how else can i troubleshoot?

Hello dubbyah,

You dhould try to delete the Preferences.cfg file. That will reset your preferences but hopefully allow you to start Live. The file should be located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live 5\Preferences

Kind regards,

I have exactly the same problem with Live601 - and instead of upgrading to 603 I'd like to delete this file, but it's not there anymore?

Where can I find this preferences.cfg file on xp?

thanks

Hello,

Here is the place where you'll find it on XP:
C:/Documents and Settings/your user name/Application Data/Ableton/Live/Preferences

The Application Data folder is hidden by default, and you have to do the following to enable viewing it:

1. Launch Explorer.
2. Select Tools/Folder Options/View.
3. Check "Show hidden files and folders."

Kind regards,
