suggestion/advice for mixdown oomph..

Post by waderck » Sat Dec 30, 2006 5:05 am

hey guys,
Saw some posts on how some people were getting a little weaker of a mixdown once they liked what they were hearing in their sessions. I am one of those.
I am pondering getting the sonic maximizer plug in. I have been transferring all my protools songs to live, and when I mix them down, they almost sound more high end than the protools tracks mixed down.
Do any of you actually find it better to reroute your abelton sessions back into protools for mixing down? Any other suggestions?

Hmm, kind of backwards to me, but it all depends what your after. I prefer live on the composition side and use PT to polish it up and mix. Although I do drop things back into live but it always comes back to PT. Nothing handles audio/mixing better that PT. imho

Oh, and by the way, get the ompf in the mix. Don't lean on a maximizer for it.

i guess I should've stated, i'm putting backing tracks into a digital recorder for live shows. I like the songs set up in live, so i can change tempo, nice effects...
However, the older PT files sound louder and clearer than the new live ones.

Ah, gotcha. It's just the nature of live in warp mode. I'm guessing your not using live live. Try a nice offline time compressor.
