honest, cheap, comfy, bulletproof
I got one of these.

I also have a pair of Sennheiser HD-25's, but after getting MDR-7506's, I haven't used those even once.

Sennheisers boost bass, but Sony's have completely flat response curve. btw: Sonys are cheaper.

Highly recommended.

ditto.......

do u think they got a flat response?
it seems to me they tend to not be too strong on the low end and then i boost too much in the mix(i have no monitors at the moment so imix with the cans) but now have become accustomed on how much to boost bass and such after wasting about 76 cdr's(not approx.) to figure the sound it produces in car stereo....but! its still a great pair of headphones....ive broken the piece that connects the actual headphone to the top part of the set, ive busted wires making only one side work, but after some good soldering, these puppies work and sound as good as they did when i bought them.....

seriously incredible sound quality!

agreed - when you need closed headphones in particular - ultrasones are fantastic for working in the studio. Great for producing - especially when you can't listen aloud. Not sure about final mix - as forge says - speakers are important - decent near field monitors. mackie makes some sweet ones.

the technics rpdh1200 will crush your head and your ears. They are a waste of money, get anything but the technics rpdh1200

AKG K 701. Just bought these. Works great for producing and mixing. But another great choice is Sennheiser HD 650.

HD25 are very nice for field recording, because they easily fit in the front pocket of a petrol bag or whatever. They're not very comfy though if you're wearing glasses. In the studio I prefer AKG 271.

When i mix with Sennheiser hd 25`s i get way too much bass so i use them for only when i need isolation. But they are great headphones, ive used them for nearly 9 years, mostly djing.

Ultrasone ProLine 750

They're not headphones, but is the Bose L1 speaker system sucky? I heard that it was good, but I don't have any firsthand experience with it.

Sennheiser HD280s hands down for engineering, production...
Always mix with the best near field monitors you can get, in an well acoustically treated room. Use cans for a second reference and checking subtle things/noise.

if i didn't ever have any tracking to do i would go for the akg k240s. the best sounding can imo. however i DO track instruments from time to time so i went for a closed can. the sennheiser hd280 pro was my can of choice.
