here's an example mp3 of some of what you can do with the s612 in real-time:

sorry, i think it's a bit crap but after listening again thought that it at least shows what you can do. i fed it sequences of half, quarter, eigth, and sixteenth notes while playing with the sliders, filter, and loop modes. didn't touch the LFO, it doesn't do too much. could've shortened the decay when sending half or quarter notes, but i forgot to do so. hope this helps a bit.

have you scoped one of these?

i remember trying one in a shop in yokohama years ago, but i was in a rush and i can't remember anything about it now. i know it does some kind of realtime sampling, not sure what else.

EDIT: wait, i don't think it has midi. never mind.

I suggested that above, I've got one. It's great.

c loops looks cool but there is no midi for it, and I'd like to be able to tweak the sample start and end points on the fly

if you listen to the mp3 demo above you'll hear exactly what I want to do with a sampler, although the song isn't great or anything but it's the concept and hardware I'm interested in.

Fair enough, though for most loops it gets things spot on (and the new Soundbit Micro has midi).

Really not sure if this would interest you or not... especially since your interested in hardware.

AudioDamage's new plugin "Replicant".

I didn't know replicant was released yet.

I can't seem to find a demo on that page though...

Ya...they don't offer demos for their products it seems. It's difficult to work out wether or not the product will fit a user's specific needs, especially in your case as you require precision. They do have some audio snippets at the bottom of the page.

I just received an email notification today about the release.

cheers

well I'm not really that interested in it, i've got sooooo many plug that do similar things.

I'm looking for hardware these days that do simple yet amusing tasks so I can muse myself outself of the computer more often

I hear you for sure. I am wanting to become a better bass player and am considering a Microkorg which could serve both as a controller and my first hardware synth. Post up what you decide on if able.

well I'm probably gonna buy homeboys akai s612 in a few days when I get paid. and I really need to get some reverb and delays for my nord lead and then I'll be in motion.

I've heard of sampling delay pedals for guitar, are there any that have a trigger input so I could send a peak signal out of my computer into the 1/4 inch jack as a trigger?

I don't want just a looping device at all I want to be able to control things.
