Newbie question - how do i create a mix cd in live 6?

Post by MACCA101 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 10:08 pm

Hi everybody

Apologies if this has been covered in depth before. I've just purchased Live 6 in order to pursue my productions, got tons to learn with that side of things but I also bought it for what it can do to my dj'ing. I've been doing some reading, and also tried the dj'ing lesson in live but there's still some things i need to know. I'm at the point where i've analyzed all the tracks i'd like to use in my mix and dragged them into the session view:

- how do i mix the tracks and 'cue' them as i would do with a conventional vinyl/cds?
- how get the next track in the mix to automatically start playing at the point i'd like, and in time?
- how would i record the set in ableton? does it save as an mp3 file?
- how would i drop in acapellas etc?

also, can somebody explain warp-markers and how the are used in the dj'ing side of things?

many thanks for your help, and again apologies if any of these questions are a bit basic :)

Go to the arrangement view, then simply import your content onto the tracks. Once it is there, you can then start recording a live session and fade in/out as you see fit. The session records itself and would remember all the tranistions. YOu can go back and modify them later.

Here is a link to a good set of resources:
