asd files

Post by Ken Ken » Thu Jan 04, 2007 8:49 pm

i have just purchased a few tracks off the dancetrackdigital site that apparantly come with perfect loop ready, free asd files.

When i drop the tracks into ableton the cue points are not ready (i.e the 0.0.1 is not set) also the tracks run out of sync quickly. Is this just some sort of rip off way to get you to download on their site or do i have to set something in pref in order for these to work properly..?

no, it's not a ripoff - they're employing professional warpers to do their stuff.

Does this problem persist with all of your 'Live-ready' tracks, or just one of them?

Either you received a bad track, or there is some technical problem going on here.

ok then, it may be a technical problem then.

Are you on a PC? Do you not have quicktime installed?

If the above is true, try downloading quicktime, and let us know what happens.

Hello,

Are you on a PC? If so, i guess Quicktime player is not installed on your machine. Install it and your problem should vanish. In particular situations, there can be problems with Direct Show, the default decoder in Windows, that resets warp markers.

Amaury, even if the problem is fixed, will he have to re-download the .asd files rom Dancetracks Digital, as Direct Show may have "reset" them?

This happened to me as well a few months ago, but I have a Mac. I haven't checked recently.

Maybe it's file specific? I think my blank Asd file was the analysis file for Sleepy Hollow by Stefan Goldmann.

If you rename a specific track and then rename the asd file to match, will the data in the asd file still be valid? sometimes tracks get renamed behind the scenes when you use organizers (like iTunes).

I'll report back if this happens again.

Not if you did not 're-save' the asd. It means that if you just opened the file and the Warp markers were reset, Live did not automatically overwrite the asd, it just ignored it. If you've hit the 'save' button in the clip view then you overwrote the asd.
