live5 on macbook

some time before i was working on my pc with live5. it worked perfectly.
a few weeks ago i changed my platform to macbook (core2duo 1,83 ... os x tiger) and installed live5. it works horrible. while playing some midi tracks program indicates cpu usage above estimated. in other words, on my pc i could launch many midi tracks simultaneously and it worked smoothly with cpu usage about 15% and now i can't play even one midi track properly and the cpu usage is above 100%.
paradoxically, my pc was much weaker than the macbook.
i tried different preference changes but it does not work.
what's wrong? is there anybody with the same problem?

I just got my macbook today and it happens the same, audio tracks work fine, but midi tracks (with the live vst instruments and fx's and so) overload the system, while according to the Mac Os activity monitor only about half of the RAM is being used (i got 2 gb's of RAM)

is it maybe due to the soundcard the macbook has? I planned to buy an audio interface for recording but i thought i could do some programming stuff in the meantime...

Are you guys sure you run Live 5.2 intel version?
You need to update your live5 version to live 5.2 version for intel macs.This update is paid i don't remember how much it costs.

surely not due to the soundcard. i'm using e-mu 0202.

the update could be solution. i'll try updating

Just so you know krs, upgrading to Live 6 will give you roughly 80% more cpu power over 5.2 due to the multiprocessor/-core support.

Dunno if you went for 5.2 or 6, though..
