oh i think they fully know about that but the problem lies more in keeping the cost down. The good plugins are usually steep in price so they would add quite a bit of $$$ to the ableton package.
Ableton does a real wicked job in other aspects of music making which they concentrate their effort on. The fine and delicately expensive production tools like these Waves plugins are always gonna be needed anyways for the production studio.
Now I don't know if people would agree to spend another few hundred bucks if Live came with wicked mastering tools. Perhaps it could be part of a separate package...
