do you use live to write your drums?

I go back and forth between this and fruity
Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music

I always use Impulse, and have never had any problems with this, if I need more elements to my drum kit I just open up a second Impulse. Now I know about racks I'll have to try loading up Impulses in racks.

Never really got on with Impulse, don't like the fact that samples sound different in the browser to when you load them and the main problem for me is I don't like writing drum parts uising the MIDI editor thing. I much prefer 16 buttons drum machine-style interface.

So I just got Microtonic, so far so good.

I'm very picky about my drum sounds, and I am using Superior Drums Custom and Vintage. I've also used Reason Drumkits and Battery. Superior drums are well...SUPERIOR. I started out triggering them with a Handsonic, but now I am using a Drumkat Turbo 4.5 with a HATpedal and FATpedal. Absolutely stunning results. I got great HiHat mapping with both trigger modules (Great range from open to closed, chick, and even splash!). Extremely close to real drums. But, you gotta pay to play, and you need a decent system (2 gigs RAM) to handle the Superior C&V.

For acoustic drums, that's hard to beat ( no pun intended )

You'll have to add ADDICTIVE DRUMS to that list though, very nice indeed.

As far as using live......I have to to admit that I don't feel comfy "programming" in live. Ok, I suck at "programming" most of the time anyways....but when I do, I use logicpro. Tedius, less intuitive, but so very powerful, and with drums that seems to be the order of the day.

As far as fruity goes, if you are pc, fruity is another very deep midi editing program. btw, wasn't live 4 the first midi version?
