all recording panned right or left...help?

Just purchased a tascam us-122. Installed the drivers correctly, can monitor playback no prob, but when i try recording my gtr into Live, it only records pan right (if i'm plugged into line-in right). I don't believe it's a Tascam issue because you can't specify how far you want to pan your sound via the tascam.

And anothe issue, I find when I'm recording audio in Live, it records the audio i.e. guitar and the bleed of other clips that I'm playing. How can I eliminate this i.e. only the audio that I'm playing gets recorded without any bleed.

Ok, just figured out how to get rid of the pan left/right recording issue. But I'm still having problems with the "bleed" issue. I.E. When I'm recording my guitar, the clips that are already playing are bleeding into my guitar clip/track. How do I prevent this?

um--what type of guitar/how is it being recorded. If you are using a mic, and listening to Live and its clips over speakers while recording with a mic, of course you'll get bleed into the mic from the speakers. Solution is to use headphones--listen to Live's output via phones so that it is quiet in the room. If you are plugging in direct, you must be recording the master out and not the straight in guitar signal off you soundcard.

Since I'm recording with headphones, this might be my problem. I'm plugged straight into the Tascam US-122, which is what it is made for and why I bought it i.e. to record straight off my soundcard. So how do I set up your scenario? The US-122 doesn't have a "master out" function, switch, etc. And when I choose "master out" on my track that I'm recording guitar too, I don't get any signal. In other words, I have to use "live in" to get signal, but I'm still getting bleed from any other tracks that are playing...help?
