Tap Crash (Unresolved)

Post by reyflem » Mon Jan 08, 2007 7:05 pm

* I have reviewed and followed the instructions of the previous post which indicated that we could delete and preferences / template and the problem would be resolved.

My tempo tap functionality causes both of my systems to crash (see system specifics below), but only after programming several midi commands. It works fine until I try to set up my Axiom 49 to control various interface parameters. From that point forward, it crashes repeatedly. I have sent this error to Ableton.

Any help from the user community would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem since upgrading to 6.0.3 and have emailed Ableton support about it. I believe it is caused by MIDI assignments since it only happens when I have assigned some controls to my Faderfox controller. Sets without MIDI assignments appear to work fine.

As a temporary workaround I've found that you can do the following:

1. Set your preferences to allow multiple instances of Live.
2. Open a second instance of Live. Do not do anything with this second instance besides tapping the tempo.
3. Tap the tempo in the second instance then manually transfer the tempo to the first instance that you are working in or if you have your tempo assigned to a slider as I have, move the slider until the tempo matches the one you've tapped in the second instance.

I've found this to work ok but is obviously not ideal since I've forgotten a couple of times and crashed my first instance. Hopefully Ableton resolve this very soon.

Cheers,

Craig

Hi Craig and Rey,

do you still get crashes when you remove the MIDI Mapping from the Tap Button and Global Tempo? Without those mappings, Live should not crash.

I think the problem has been found and fixed, but we still need to test it thoroughly.

Let me know if you get crashes without the Mapping.

Hi Daniel,

I have a mapping on the tempo to a slider. Removing this mapping does stop the crashes.

Do you have a timescale on when this fix will be released?

Thanks,

Craig

bump!

I really need to get a fix for this. Alternatively, could 6.0.1 be put back up for download so that I can revert to the older version which worked fine for what I need to do?

Thanks Craig

I'm also having this issue. With tap and tempo mapped is crashes anytime I try and use the tap.

Oh i just tryed other combinations and it only crashed if the TEMPO is mapped. Even without the tap mapped. Tab worked fine from the controller if no tempo slider was mapped.
