Audio Devices

Post by jordan0149 » Tue Jan 09, 2007 6:22 am

I was hoping to use ASIO as my Driver Type because I heard it was the best.
But then I can't get any sound from my Guitar with my M-Audio MobilePre.
But I do recieve input, just no sound.

So I think Im stuck with MME/DirectX because it is the only one that works with MobliePre.
Do I have to instal the MobilePre with ASIO?

Anyways, I think I can live with MME/DirectX if it's not fixable.
But now, I have a huge delay when I play the guitar.
I put the buffer size all the way down on the lowest possible, and there was still delay.

I have a good computer, its barely over a year old.
What Audio Devices do I need to be using?
Here are the prefences I am using now to get the least delay, but its not good enough...

You can try the program ASIO4All. Also if there's any chance you can raise the sample rate higher than 48,000 that would lower the latency

I would keep the sample rate at 44.1 . I've tried 48, and it messes up all my samples and loops and is generally a pain in the arse.

ASIO4ALL will give you the ASIO drivers you need.

When you were using the M-Audio Mobile Pre with the ASIO drivers did you also have the Output device set as the Mobile Pre as oppsosed to the Audigy?

And then in turn have your speakers plugged into the outputs of the Mobile Pre and not the Audigy?

You don't need to use the Audigy if you are using the Mobile Pre unless it has more output facilities that you need i guess. I'd say download the latest ASIO drivers from m-audio.com and make sure you choose it as your in and out device and make sure your speakers are physically plugged into the mobile pre then you shouldn't have any problems at all.

Sorry if this sounds obvious, but i do a lot of trouble shooting for people and 9 times out of 10 it is things like that. And it happen to us all.

Cheers
