Reality takes a big Bite off the Apple
Reality takes a big Bite off the Apple
It's time for the cult of the turtle-necked geeks to read it and weep. The iPhone hype is over!

although I agree that the iPhone is sounding a little lamer every day, this statement isn't true.
I just upgraded the ram in my powerbook g4 and it was the easiest ram upgrade I've ever done.Anyone who owns a Mac computer also knows how hard it is to upgrade any internal components without going through Apple. If you can figure out how to do these things yourself, you'll break the warranty. If you go through Apple, you'll probably have to give them more money in the process.

You are an idiot. This article is being ripped to shreads for being a completely biased 'Microsoft" written article (after all, Microsoft does own CNET.) Here is an example of one user's quotes:simpleton wrote:It's time for the cult of the turtle-necked geeks to read it and weep. The iPhone hype is over!![]()

"This author obviously didn't even watch the Keynote demo by Jobs. Tim
Moynihan states- Playing media content while surfing the Web is
technically multitasking, but it's possible that the iPhone will only be able to
perform one of its three main functions at any given time: It's either an iPod,
an "Internet device," or a phone, but it may not be able to do more than one
function at a time.
Hmm, let's see, Jobs showed how, while listening to music, a phone call came
in, the music fades down nicely so he can answer the call, then while on the
call, he brings up a photo, emails it to the caller then goes to a web browser
and looks up Movie times. Once the call has ended, the music fades back in...
yep, sounds like Multitasking.
I don't know, but the whole article just seems like it was written by an Apple
basher."
It is agreed by most that the extremely biased author not only didn't do his research or even watch the Keynote demoanstration, that he is specualting on things that haven't even been finalized as if they were already etched in stone. And people like YOU and a few others on this forum (and of course it always seems like the jelous PC users) just love to fuel the Mac vs PC war with your empty rhetoric just to cause trouble like a stupid high school bully.
You are the same type of person that thought the iPod would never take off or go anywhere, and yet look at not only how popular it is, but how it completely changed the music industry and how we all consume music. Your name fits you will Simpleton...

Fuck off. I mean really... fuck off. All that article did was whine about how it may not have all this media functionality and other unessential bullshit. It's a fucking phone! You call people with it! If you need streaming video or audio on your phone, how about your just stab yourself in the eye with a razr!simpleton wrote:It's time for the cult of the turtle-necked geeks to read it and weep. Sorry guys, if you had half a brain and really read the article and did your own checking, you'd realize that article is full of crap. As for the iPhone itself, why don't you prats leave it alone until it comes out and people get a chance to try it first hand? So far from want I've seen (and most credible journalists that have actually tried it hands-on agree) it's much more than "just a phone" and more than that, it's just a really elegant way that they've intergrated everything so well together. If you guys can't see that, then you can go wank off to your little Nokias in the corner!

um, yeah. So, you can upgrade one internal component... wave that flag around!! Big Whoop!. Try upgrading your hd by yourself. Nope, can't do it without invalidating the warranty. What about that dvd/cd player/burner. When it goes, have fun. If you're still under warranty and/or applecare, maybe you'll see your powerbook back in a month.. yeah, right. So, go ahead and upgrade your RAM. I'm sure it's easier to upgrade than RAM in any other machine, because you love your powerbook. Doesn't that same thing apply to like 70% of any other laptops out there?stinky wrote:um, yeah. So, you can upgrade one internal component... wave that flag around!! Big Whoop!. It's not like laptops have a reputation of being modular machines...
I've been able to replace my cd/dvd and hd on fujitsu's, dell's, hp's. Dell latitude monitors are easy to replace. So were compaqs.hoffman2k wrote:Doesn't that same thing apply to like 70% of any other laptops out there?stinky wrote:um, yeah. So, you can upgrade one internal component... wave that flag around!! The biggest piece of evidence that Apple is a cult of proprietary monopolists is that they don't even include a mini SD slot (like every other smartphone out there!) so users can freely augment their storage capacity. Nooooo... you gotta spend mo money and buy another iPhud... for $600 bucks!! And the Jobsian's will gladly leap off that cliff like dazed little turtle-necked lemmings...

You say that as though Microsoft are totally innocent and don't ship their gear with exclusivity to their own software and products.simpleton wrote:The biggest piece of evidence that Apple is a cult of proprietary monopolists is that they don't even include a mini SD slot (like every other smartphone out there!) so users can freely augment their storage capacity. The only thing I can think of that Microsoft openly design as being compatible with other companies soft and hardware is Windows, and that's not perfect in that department. A relatively simple thing like connecting to an airport's wi-fi connection involves a lot of messing about with TCP/IP etc. in the Control Panel etc. Whereas with Mac you just select the network at the top through the Airport drop-down.
Anyway, arguing about PC vs. Mac again is pointless, I use both. For music, graphics, 3D (nearly everything creative) then it has to be Mac imho, for gaming I use Windows. Both have their uses.

You don't know what you're talking about? seriously. I just replaced the DVD burner in my powerbook, and it was simpler than replacing the hard drive, which was easy.stinky wrote:I've been able to replace my cd/dvd and hd on fujitsu's, dell's, hp's. The only thing hard or impossible to replace in the laptop is the motherboard; big surprise, it's a laptop.
