help help help help Live is running in Rewire Slave Mode

Post by audiostein » Sat Jan 13, 2007 11:22 am

I don't know what I've done, but if I open Live 6 from its shortcut nothing happens.

The only way I can get Live 6 to load is if I open Cakewalk Sonar 6 and add Live as a rewired device, but then it accepts no MIDI inputs, makes no noise etc.

I've obvioulsy messed things up with Rewiring stuff that I shouldn't (late Christmas presents meant I tried to do too much at once etc etc without knowing what I was doing).

If I click into preferences in Live 6 I get the message "Live is running in ReWire slave mode."

Now I reckon that anyone who's been using either of these products for more than two weeks will know what to do, so I'm bracing myself for loads of cool advice about how to STOP LIVE 6 RUNNING IN REWIRE SLAVE MODE.

Remember I cannot open Live 6 at all without adding it to Sonar first.

Many many thanks in advance folks.

Go on. Where and how do I do that, my 2004 posting friend?

At the moment I can get into Live through Cakewalk and run it as a rewire slave but thats (almost) useless for what I want to do.

Oh one more thing - I have uninstalled and then reinstalled Ableton Live 6 with no joy... I could try just doing the same with Cakewalk but its a lot of hassle for what should be an easy thing to solve.

Well I've uninstalled Cakewalk and now Live 6 is back to normal.

I think it was all to do with Cakewalk's shared plug-ins folder, because when I tried to load Live 6 I'd get the splash screen and the little bar at the bottom left would say what it was doing. It would say "Scanning VSTs" or similar and then just disappear - not load, nuffink.

I reckon I could still access Live 6 when rewired as a Sonar 6 slave because you can't use plug-ins in Live 6 in that state, so it wasn't looking for them, so the conflict didn't arise in that situation.

I'm sure that isn't the exact answer, but I am sure I'm thinking roughly along the right lines.

Bloody Sonar 6.

Now, do I reinstall it again and hope it doesn't mess me up once more....?
