I was going to buy an ipod nano ($200), and recently bought a cingular 8125 phone ($350) and because this phone uses Windows mobile®, was completely useless for me other than making calls and surf the web just because I'm a Mac guy. I'm thinking of...save the money I had for the nano and sell this 8125...that makes $550, more than enough to get the 4Gb iphone , that uses OSX, so I can sync it to my 3 Macs and ,still, have an ipod !!!. I'm gonna get the iphone when it comes out in june...definitely. :D

yeah, i think this idea is based on the days of the G3. Apple has come a long way in making their components very easy to access- and upgrade. If he is talking about motherboards or cpu's.. how many 'average' pc users are doing that themselves?

capta1nA wrote:although I agree that the iPhone is sounding a little lamer every day, this statement isn't true.
Anyone who owns a Mac computer also knows how hard it is to upgrade any internal components without going through Apple. If you can figure out how to do these things yourself, you'll break the warranty. If you go through Apple, you'll probably have to give them more money in the process.
I just upgraded the ram in my powerbook g4 and it was the easiest ram upgrade I've ever done.

my biggest gripe with the phone is that it doesn't sound like they're going to leave it open for third party apps. Or at least not without forcing developers to jump through some hoops.

it's all still a little vague right now, hopefully more info on this will be forthcoming... I would -love- to develop for this thing. How much fun would it be to make a multitouch wireless MIDI interface out of it?[/i]

That!, Jamie. Specially since it uses Bluetooth 2.0. Do it Otis, just change your religion to Scientology and Steve'll let ya in the cult.

You say that as though Microsoft are totally innocent and don't ship their gear with exclusivity to their own software and products.
you're right. Both companies kinda suck to me, honestly. Hence I would never buy a Microsoft OR an Apple cellphone.

I am looking forward to seeing the results of the Cisco v Apple lawsuit. Worst case: If Apple loses they may have to fork over all of their iPhone profits to Cisco Systems. That's gotta hurt!

I remember back in the day there used to be a saying "If you don't like it don't buy it". My how I miss those days. Back then I would probably tell simpleton to stop acting like a dick, and that nobody really cares what he thinks of the phone, whether he personally likes it or not, but since he is being forced to buy it like the rest of us I have to extend some sympathy to him.

Yes, it's tough to not want something you don't want and tell everybody you don't want it and then actually not get it when nobody gives a shit. It's a big responsibility.

How very true - and to add insult to injury we're all supposed to debate this on the interweb as well!

Sympathy all round..

Yes, but don't worry, when I become dictator there will be no more debate over anything, ever! I assure you of that. If you'd like I will make you a captain in my secret police.

Don't you mean the AT&T/BellSouth/Cingular/(and now...) Apple behemoth? That's a combo that would even make Stalin envious.

Question....why are the people who are "sticking up" for this iphone thing so attached?

I've heard the two sides, taken a bit of heat myself but the question remains.....why are both sides trying so hard to convince each other that "they" are right?

Do you own apple stock......or on the opposite side......did you sell you're apple stock too quick?

There is nothing.......and I mean nothing......about a PHONE that could spark this much "i'm right.......no youre not........i'm right......" How can this be?

Politics......I get it.......best platform..........I get it..........iphone? I don't get it and why there is so much debate.....?
