remember to connect the FW410 before you switch on the Mac!!!!
It doesn't work properly as firewire-connections should do..
I had the same problems and I am still uncertain if I managed to ruin my firewire connection...
I have had problems with Live... especially #6
so I am looking forward to the bug-upgrade... if it wasn't for SAMPLER, I would uninstall and just run Live 5.2

When I bought my Powerbook 15" (the last version), I had constant crashes and freezes too.
The reason was they put wrong memory to my computer. All the hardware test maybe ran fine, but the computer just randomly rebooted.
Is your memory the one that came from the factory or did they change something into it when you bought it?
These kind of freezes sound very much like a faulty RAM.
