I just sprung for the Ableton/Dimension Pro racks and it is very, very useful indeed. It is so EASY now to change presets.... Excellent work!

And well worth the money, for sure....

Glad you're now enjoying this as much as I am! :D

question - how quickly can you jump between presets ?

i.e : is the vst unloaded and reloaded each time with new rack/preset selection ?

cheers

no, the vst remains active; just use the arrow keys to navigate live window..

I imagine the time it takes to load a new preset by way of the Live menu depends on two factors: the speed of your computer, and the size of the samples that comprise the Dimension program you're selecting. For me, it never takes more than 2 seconds, and it's usually much less than that (ie. as fast as I can double click.)

I haven't tried Chuck's method of using the arrow keys to move between racks, but if that works too, great. I'm not sure whether Live is actually unloading and re-loading the VST in addition to changing the program, but since it is cached in memory, its kind of a moot point anyway. It happens pretty much instantly. Suitable for improv on the fly, which is one thing I wanted this for.

My stongest recommedation: take a minute to download the free sample on my webpage, and see how you like it.

I tried the demo and it worked like a charm - very cool!

One question (before I buy): How does this work in relation to how one has their DP library organized? Because I've custonmized mine, integrating the expansion packs and whatnot. How does it "look" for the presets in DP's library folders???

Thanks again, this is really cool and FAST! Just double click down the preset list - awesome! :D

Hey jamester,

That's an excellent question, and really requires technical knowledge of the VST spec and/or Dimension spec to answer with authority. (I have neither LOL.)

How about this, place your order, and in this instance I'll hook you up with the download in advance of your payment. If it doesn't work for you, just delete it, and if it does work, send your payment along. And if you would, please just let the rest of us know what you find?

I'm going to bed shortly, so if you order tonight, you will likely hear back sometime tomorrow.

Thanks.

Late responding here, haven't been on the daw in the past day or so....

But despite your generous offer, I'm going to go ahead and commit to purchasing this. If my preset organization is screwy, I'll just re-install things back to "normal"; i.e., original library plus the two expansion packs all seperate (instead of my creative integrating).

This is just too cool to pass up for $10! :)

Thanks, Jamester. You won't regret it - once you've got these in Live, it's extremely easy to reorganize according to your own preferences by way of the Live interface instead.

Replying to your e-mail right now. Let us know how it works out for you (trying to keep this thread floating to the top. :) )

P.S. Jamester, in case you missed this the first time I posted it, it is likely relevant to the work you've already done organizing your presets:
The Expansion Content is folded into the main content wherever corresponding folder names existed. If anyone really takes exception to this, I can separate them out again to get back to the original hierarchy. I simply started out with what would be most convenient for me, and then as we picked up the pace and ambiguities arose, started to default to the original Cakewalk folder layout. All in all, you should find it's quite sensible. It's also very easy to tweak it to your own preferences, which you'll almost certainly do as you begin working with it.

Just finished PayPaling you Marc! :)
I'll let you all know how it works out, with the library organization and all. I also rolled any redundant folders into their originals, but kept them in a seperate sub-folder.

For example, inside the main Dimensions folder I have a sub-folder with the Dimensions from expansion pack 1.

Doh! I just checked looked into it, and it turns out I only did this with expansion pack 1, not 2! huh, guess I never got around to the second one, so exp.pack2 is its own discreet folder.

Looks like I'm going to have to do some re-organizing no matter how you slice it....

Just to be clear: the "folding" I referred to is in the Live Instrument Rack libraries in the zip the you just downloaded. I built these using a standard, unmodified installation of Dimension Pro, Exp1, and Exp2. So you may not need to change anything before using the Live library. (I just posted the above so no one would think there were entire folders missing.)

Thanks, and enjoy!

Enjoy I will, as I've just spent about half an hour going through various random presets in all the folders - and it's worked perfectly! :D

It may very well be that it doesn't matter how the DP Library is organized, so long as it's in the folder DP will find it.

Thanks again Marc, this is a ridiculous no-brainer; for ten bucks, every DP owner using Live should pick this up!

That's great news re: the racks working regardless of the Dimension programs organization.

Re: "ridiculous no-brainer", mind if I quote you on my webpage? :)
