the idea: drool
the picture: fake

the knobs look like cgi, as do the shadows they cast...the unit itself looks like cgi too,
the rest is photoshop'd on to the cgi unit, and at a bad angle....you can see how the knobs on the left of the unit, are closer to the top of the unit....and on the right, the angle has dipped - the pads should be in line with the top of the unit, but...they aint.

also, the track beneath the fader - the strip of black - thats pretty obviously cgi too.

everyone knows the picture is fake right ?...are we discussing if this idea is real or not ?
I would hope it is.

Why anyone would bother to do it ? I would say good job to make it look as a cheesy phone camera photo of a board with all those reflextion.
Silly name, but after Little Phatty we can expect anything.
Regarding Linn/Smith rhythm box I see no good reason not to make it. Already the Adrenalinn sounds amazing and I am buying (will pick it up next week and definitely ask the distributor if he knows anything new) it more for the insane drums then amp emulations.
Linn and Smith did to electronic what Leo Fender and Les paul to guitars, I would get anything made buy them without need to check "is it any good?".
Evolver desktop is the highest value for the money you could ever find. My no.1 choice for any solo voice.
Anyway if they are not working on something like that yet, will make it a point to convince them to do it ( if any of them shows up for the Frankfurt messe)

cos they're nerds dude....especially on those gear-whore blogs, they do the doctored photo thing regularly. Sometimes its based on idustry rumour, like, they read/hear about a portable mpc....so they'll cut and paste pieces of an mpc2500 over the body of a sony psp. Sometimes its based on history, like taking classic pieces of gear and illustrating what the bastard child might look like....

but the pic is most definatly fake, even those reflections you talk about....you can drum those up in a couple of seconds using photoshop, with an itty bit of know how..

Why do you always talk like you know 100% what is true? It just baffles me sometimes... The image of the Drum Machine itself IS cgi, but the picture of the poster at NAMM is NOT fake! Why would you think it is? Are you even at NAMM? It would be a simple matter for you to walk over to Dave Smith's booth and see for yourself.

Incidentally, here is where this picture was originally posted from:

http://www.midizoo.com/namm/

And knowing Smith and Linn, this WILL most likely come out and it may be closer than any of us think!

calm down dickhead. All I said was that the image was fake, you agree with that. I dont give a damn if it was on a poster, or a printout, the image was fake - thats all I said.

I'm glad you knew it was a poster at namm, I on the other hand was just presented with a single jpeg and my analysis was 100% right. I didnt know that was supposed to be a poster. so I could hardly say it wasnt a poster. You're being a little pedantic.

And why are you calling me a dickhead? Why are you always so abrasive? To make up for your endless stupidity I assume...

as long as it sounds nice and works well who gives a shit what it looks like or is called?

i'm interested. I love the sound of the Linn drum and the mpc60 is a stone cold classic machine....for example.

seriously? you're not really subtly yanking my chain? (subtle irony sometimes doesn't come across in posts). if so, that's a tacit confirmation from dsi that it's real and getting made, right?
