Envelopes Help Please

Post by footslider G » Sun Jan 21, 2007 10:28 pm

Hello All,

I am having a difficulty in automating an envelope in a clip.

The red line showing the automation ranges from 0-100%.

This however does not truly represent the parameter I wish to automate. 0 - 100% doesn't cover the entire range of the EQ I'm trying to alter.

If you visualize it as a slider. Going from 0-100 only moves the slider a quarter of the way along. How do i make it move the whole way?

Oh by the way, I do not have a midi controller so have to do this using the program only.

I hope one of you guys understands what I'm gettin at?

As always a big thanks to anyone who bothers to try help.
Cheers

Yep - It's all about absolute and relative automation data.

If you wanna automate an envelope in a CLIP, you can do this (as you said) within a range of 0-100 %, but "relative" to the current set value of the fader/knob. This means if your current value of your eq param. is a quarter, your clip automation covers this quarter. So, to have the full 100% you have to make up the param. to max.

The automation in the arrange view is absolute - so the full range is always covert by the automation here, regardless the current settings.

btw. it's all in the f******manual......
hope that helps

Yes it really does help and many thanks

I'm sure it is all in the manual as you stated but some of us have families to feed and can't spend every waking hour looking at a computer screen or reading a manual so I am very sorry if I offended you by asking such an obvious question but it is down to necessity rather than lack of intelligence on my part!

Once again thanks for your input
Cheers
