On a mac (power mac is what I have but for Intel chips too), what is more CPU efficient......Live 6 or Logic Pro?
I was wondering if Logic used the CPU resources better since it's an apple software package.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
cannon
What's more efficient?????

Really quite hard to say, it'll depend on what you're doing with either. And you have to be doing exactly the same thing in order to make a proper comparison, (this is a big deal with the built in instruments) The fact that Logic is written by Apple shouldn't have a major impact on CPU I would've thought.
The amount of difference really shouldn't be enough to outway things like the actually usability etc of the software.

Disclaimer: I don't run either on new intel mac, in fact, don't run logic, though wish I could.
That being said, it is true it depends on what you are doing, but logic is much more efficient in that:
You probably will be able to run many more plugs in Logic than you can in LIVE. This is mostly because LIVE is designed to run everything in real-time.
Again, I don't know this, but in my desire to get an intel mac and logic, I have been "listening" to a lot of the discussions about this.
Best,
AB

Macbook c2d 2.0, 2G RAM, 160G HD 5400 RPM, OSX(10.5.5), XP Home, LIVE6, BCR 2000, UC33e, Yamaha P-200, Logic Studio, KRK V6 II
it depends on what you want.
If you want real-time looping, a really fluid production flow, the ability to perform your tracks out; Go with Ableton Live.
If you're talking track-for-track vst performance, go with Logic. I did that. Once. Then I ditched Logic (like many here have) and I use Ableton Live exclusively.
Apples and oranges.
