*OT* Bush State of the Union
I liked the part about the planned terror attack on the west coast that was thwarted by our saviors..........except for the fact that incident is almost universally believed by people in the intelligence community to have been a hoax. So the president is lying to the American people.....wasn't some other guy impeached for that? Maybe they should make presidents swear an oath before they give any speeches......
Yeah, this president has totally blown his credibility, and much of the US's credibility too. Now what's the punishment for high treason again? What did Bush preside over more of than any other Texas governer? What happened to Saddam? I think its time for compassionate conservatism!

I didn't watch it, for the same reason someone else mentioned above. What's the use really.
I did watch excerpts and listen to various people's analysis of the speech. What I did listen to I heard a lot of the same rhetoric from Bush, "we must not fail" "nightmare scenario" "epic battle" etc.. and I can not help but wonder, what planet is this guy from.
But it is my understanding, and some of the analysts I was listening to pointed this out, that out of all of that not once in the entire speech did Bush mention the Gulf Coast region of the United States and what is being done to help people down there, many of whom still do not have homes to return to.
Maybe we'll get a change now that the DEMS have control of congress eh? Looking good so far, non-binding resolutions..... umm....... bowing to APAC and other big lobby's.......
Whatever, Bush is a f%cking criminal, so is Cheney, and so are the rest of his cabinet. there is no doubt about that. But anyone who thinks a Democrat in office is going to change things is really fooling themselves.
Both parties should just merge and call themselves the "Big Business Party" , because that is who they both represent. But meanwhile we argue about the differences between Republicans and Democrats, the "librul media"....
WTF? All of our major media is controlled by huge corporations, Where exactly is this Liberal media I hear so much about?
The first thing we need in America is media reform.

It's really scary that the seemingly most forward news comes from a comedy show.
What was up with Cheney during that speech? He was just glaring at one spot in the audience the whole time. I feel bad for whoever was at the other end of those eyes. They must have felt like they were being burned alive.

It's funny, every time I hear a neo-con say, "So you get your news from Comedy Central?!?!", and I'm thinking, "At least the news I get is the comedy of the absurd...you're being brainwashed by Fox News, ya freakin' vegetable!"
And last night's episode was pretty funny. If you kept watching onto Colbert, the blink-off between Nancy and Darth Cheney was awesome.

lol..... yeah, Cheney is definitely a bad mo-fo. Something about the guy, he just seems to exude power, elitism, and evil. I hear he is a master debater, I'd love to see a debate between him and Noam Chomsky.kennerb wrote:

For news and such, you should check out Democracy Now. It's a great show, they broadcast daily. It's hard to find a channel that carries it, but they have podcasts, real-video, and other options available generally within a couple hours after each broadcast airs. I'll either listen to the podcast at my desk, or watch the streaming video when I get in from work and make lunch.
It's seriously worth checking out.
Regarding media reform, again, on Democracy Now, you have to check this out. It's a speech given at the third annual conference for media reform by Bernie Sanders, an Independent Senator from Vermont (he's a self described socialist). I thought it was pretty powerful.
Check the links at the top, it's available in various formats, including streaming video:

I liked how the room was split and the democrats sat as the republicans stood and cheered
but you knew when Bush said something bi partisan because both sides stood and cheered
weird world we live in
he's an idiot but one hell of a politian - oh, in about 2 years well have a new, better blacker president and then you'll see - you'll see goddammit!

I thought this was funny, the one time Bush was taking a sip of water Darth Cheney did as well, in a puppeteering spirit!

Yeah I don't know how that would go. Cheney has a way of saying things that mean nothing or are absolutely absurd in such a matter of fact way that it becomes a non discussion.ethios4 wrote:smutek wrote:lol..... yeah, Cheney is definitely a bad mo-fo. That is the best idea I've heard in a long time! Damnit, I want to see that sooooo bad now! I would pay a lot to see that.

as just an example his "unknown knowns, known knowns, and known unknowns" statement after 9/11. You see the interviewer's face after he gets done talking and it looks like they are watching one of those scariest home videos or something.
He's very passive agressive to.
