My MBP core duo used to get a little hot sometimes, but after installing a small program called "Fan Control", the problem's gone. :D

Hi, I hope this help you out. I bought a core duo 2Ghz Black macbook. When I first got it the problem was the the heat sensor was reading and overheat and Shuting down the computer at random. This started almost immediatly after purchace. I took it back to the mac store and the replaced the sensor for me. This was a common problem with the macbooks at the time I saw many people in the store for the same thing at the same time.
Since then I've never had a problem with macbook i've installed the firmware update and I run scratch live, ableton live and reason sometimes at the same time. I also run an external harddrive 2 USB midi controllers a firewire interface and a second monitor and I've never had any problems of any kind. I also take the macbook to the club and use it there again with no problems it's a tough little machine.
I hope this helps you with your problem. If not I'm sorry.

I'm on a MacBook Coreduo 2GHz and I'm gradually moving everything over from my Powerbook.

After I had it 2 months it started randomly shutting down and the fan was going all the time. But Apple replaced almost everything inside it and it works fine now.

Like posted before, now that it's sorted the Macbook runs cooler than my Powerbook. It's now hard to get the fans to run, (unless I'm watching a DVD in bed & blocking the ports).

I even had the confidence to fly with it last month and do a series of gigs in Ireland it was very well behaved.

I would whole heartedly say get one! If that is what you budget allows.
