OSCulator
Hi everyone,
I am the author of the application OSCulator.
I am also a happy user of Live.
OSCulator is a general OSC routing application. Until now, this application was only available to Kyma users (see http://www.symbolicsound.com).
Amongst a host of new features, a virtual MIDI output is now provided to convert OSC messages to MIDI control changes. It is VERY easy to patch a OSC controller wth Live by using OSCulator.
This release is planned to be release in first half of march.
OSCulator is donationware, meaning that you can support the development and quality of this software by offering a donation to the author. No serial number nor registration is needed.
To see what it is all about go to the OSCulator website:
Please note that the website reflects the current version, not the forthcoming one.
http://web.mac.com/tuscland
(sorry, no domain name right now, but I'll get one soon)
I hope you will find my software useful as I do. I can tell as a user I have a lot of fun!
All the best,
Camille

I asked that question 2 years ago.ze2be wrote:I dont know, but it seems like a good thing: http://opensoundcontrol.org/cnmathoffman2k wrote: Is OSC the only alternative to midi?
At this point I'm setteling for anything better then MIDI.
OSC sound like the best alternative.
Other solutions could be scripting, HID,...

Yeah, it seams like the way to go. My nerdy, jazz educated and software programing friend tells me its the future!

Is it true that your app can also output keystrokes directly?
If so, then how much do we have to pay you to get a PC version?

Hi guys,
The news version inluding Live control via MIDI and also Wiimote input (AMAZING!!!) is soon to be released (next week).
I am sorry for Windows users, I can concentrate on only one version of my software to keep the quality up to date. OSCulator runs Mac OS X 10.4.8 (could be back ported to 10.3.9 on special request.)
All The Best,
Camille

so far all i know of is the monome and the lemur. and osc does exactly what you want, but there will be more out there.hoffman2k wrote:So. are there any controllers / interfaces out there yet?
Apart from that lemur thing.
Otherwise i wouldn't see the point of implementing this.
You can hardly expect people to buy a 2000$ thingy that'll be outdated by next month just to use this feature.
I would love some more control then 127 values in a CC though.
But i would rather want to see a solution for everybody, instead of just for the people who can afford a lemur or the likes....
Is OSC the only alternative to midi?
using osculator, or max/msp it would be possible to convert a pitch bend too a much higher resolution value.
i guess the sliders on the mcu take advantage of the higher res in a pitch bend for the vol sliders.
