future-pc user: hows midi implented in xp?

hi,

as a former mac user i know that under os 9 we needed to use
a tool named oms to get midi working.

under osx midi is implented on systemlevel.

now my question:

apple sell me this feature as the new thing.
ok, it is sure a progress from 9 to there but how is this done
running xp on a pc???

there is no special program needed for midi on pc, midi is already installed, all you need is a midi port if you don't already have one and that's it. midi is from the 80's and is nothing new to computers. oms was complete bullshit. if you buy a pc, you'll love live on it much more...
