Digi 002 not coming up with live 6.03 on a macbook

Have you installed the Core Audio driver for the DIGI 002?

we have an older driver installed, there is no stand alone driver for the intel macs.
does this mean protools has to be installed to use the digi 002?
this is for my bandmate.. works fine on my powerbook

i'm 99% sure you need either the stand alone driver or PT installed.
