Hercules USB DJ Console?
Hercules USB DJ Console?
Has anyone used this, and is it compatible with Ableton. Looks like it has some nice features
It's okay... up to a point...
I've just wasted an evening trying and had no joy with ASIO drivers either. The MME/DirectX ones seem to work okay for using VirtualDJ but can't handle the more complex tracks I've put together in Live without glitching.
In order to use it this way, just untick the ASIO box in the Console Mixer options, and make sure the bit-rate in the Console Mixer matches that in Live's audio options. Also, having it in DJ mode seems to reduce drop-outs.
Worse still, if you put it in ASIO mode, you get rogue MIDI messages leaking through, which makes it impossible to assign controls in Live. Again, this problem goes away in MME/DirectX mode.
Not ideal solutions - and I shall be badgering the people at Hercules til they write a decent bloody ASIO driver - I suggest you register & do the same here:

It's a real shame as it lets down an otherwise good piece of hardware (and means I can't sell me M-Audio Transit yet either... Wink

Just cracked it!
If you go to http://www.asio4all.com/ and download the universal ASIO driver, the Hercules works fine as both MID and soundcard! Don't use their stinking drivers!

I have one, but i don't use it for audio. Just as a midi controller. Had issues with the sound dropping out (soundcard disconnect) if you bump the USB cable around too much. So I run an e-magic a2|6 for my audio.
However, I love the things, for a low end controller it's great, and between it, a doepfer pocket controller and a midi keyboard I have access to all the buttons knobs and sliders I need for Djing and production.
