Indeed. This thread is gold.

I started with a Boomerang; then I got an Echoplex b/c I wanted Reason/ Live to midi sync; then I just started using live with the FCB1010 b/c I got sick of exporting loops from the echoplex or just losing them when I turned everything off.

Since then, I still haven't figured out how to do what everyone is talking about and have resorted to (1) playing the guitar riff --> (2) stomping out the tempo that the riff has on the FCB1010; --> (3) starting the click track on ableton; (4) attempting to record to the click track in ableton

^^^ this works, of course, but it really disrupts the creative process and f's with you if you're working in 5/4 or some really weird timed riff b/c of the 4/4 click track.

I hope "Augustus" works as advertised. :?

Oh yes, it sure does! I've been using it a lot. I especially like the fluent way you can pitch transpose loops while still overdubbing new layers of audiio into them.

But eventually I play along a different concept then what you are intersted in? I don't mind "loosing loops". I only play live and start with a blanc set that I fill it up with loops, by playing physical instruments and looping parts, to form an arrangement. So I actually have to "loose all loops" after I have performed a song, before I will be able to do another song ;-))

In the past I have been using a Gibson Echoplex, Elextrixpro Repeater and some other stuff. At the moment I find Mobius the far best looper available. That's a bit of a drag since I like to wrap up recording productions in Logic, which means I have to grab live work in Mobius on Windows XP and move files to an OS X machine that can run Logic. Oh well... can't have everything I guess

yeah, it'd be funny to read my monday am posts, lots of laughs  but I can't say this thread has generated a lot of positive vibes, I'm a very sensitive person and I cry easily.

i've been on similar quest. have tried various looper pedals (boss ones don't really do it for me), have a 2880 i like to use to record like a four track, dump into live (though 2880 seems to have glitch where metronome goes out of whack when you reverse), also use live with rough equivalent to live looping setup in threads, but that's more like a very convenient multitrack.

i still find mobius to be far and away the best bet, and it's midi setup is so easy and robust i'm surprised other apps haven't copied it. i'd like to use mobius in live, but still having trouble getting midi to it in live (and yes, per, i've read the relevant threads on zone mobius, still not working). i also like angstrolooper for certain things (like the tape flange, also can't get midi to work with angstro (i sense a pattern here)).

all that said, anyone tried looperlative? looks intriquing, but feature set seems a little limited (though there will be SW updates).

Seriously, why doesn't Ableton 7 just do what we're asking here and then dominate the looping market. It's 99% of the way there, the technology is there, it's just not implemented yet.

C'mon krauts.

He, he... actually, Mobius started off by copying the Echoplex Pro!

I've played gigs with people that use looperlative and I have read the maual. It sure looks very interesting. I'm just no sure I would be brave enough to take the plounge back into hareware. I mean, the speed of development is just a joke compared to software like mobius where you can ask for a feature and have it in next weeks upgrade. But the cost is about the same; a looperlative does cost as much as a laptop with a decent audio box.

+1

I just came across this thread looking for a way to do the same thing. I hope ableton can find an elegant way of including this functionality in Live for the next version. for now i'll investigate running augustus loop and syncing live to that..

OMFG you're busting my balls over banter with someone else in a thread you had nothing to do with from 6 months ago? Did it occur to you that your post has much more bad forum mojo than my obnoxiousness? Can you get over yourself? Thank you btw, you've now been more of a douche bag in this thread than I was 6 months ago.

It's Saturday afternoon and you're so unhappy with your life that you decided to go online and write things like this? Run along little man, the answers to your life's problems won't be found on the internet, have you considered therapy?

Loopy Joe and I laughed about this afterwards, I apologized for being obnoxious, we got through it like healthy adults, we had some interesting exchanges in later threads and came to a mutual respect. You have problems, serious problems. I look forward to more of your helpful, insightful posts and contributions to the forum.

Oh, and remember, when you slash your wrists, it's down the length of the arm, not across the wrist, hth.
