Midi effect: Converting Random to Midi Data

Post by ejordan » Thu Feb 01, 2007 2:48 am

I often use the "Random" midi effect in line with the "Scale" effect to get inspiration for a progression of notes through a scale, however when I record the midi clip into a track, and play it back, it is never the same.....is there a way to convert a random output to a series of midi notes.....so that I can use a portion that I like that comes out of it, and make slight ajustments if I want to?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

make another midi channel and in the i/o section set it to receive data from the 1st channel post fx.

you can then record on this track all the randomness being produced by scale, arp etc. and then you can drag the recorded clips back into the original track, turn off the randomizers and hit play!

same with audio clips with beat repeat
