OT - Wtf? A helicopter just landed next to my house...

Post by fatrabbit » Sat Feb 03, 2007 5:18 pm

So I was here minding my own business, when out the corner of my eye I see a helicopter land in the field next to me...

They stayed for about half an hour, 5 peeps got out, like they'd run out of fuel or something.

But then they took off... probably because it didn't seem to have any lights for night flight so they probably had to get back quickly... but who knows... looked a bit dodgy as it took off.

I'm suprised they weren't challenged as this whole area has flight restrictions as there's a massive underground military storage/base here - 'RAF Rudloe' if you are interested in a Google.

you sure it wasnt "lord of the manor" or something?, in bakewell near where i used to live, we got lord sainsbury parking his helicopter next to the river, usually blocking the footpath, guess he owned the fucking lot.

Ah, the good old days!

I was a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps for 11 years, and one of the best parts was that you didn't need to land at airports.

There could be any number of reasons why they landed. It may have been a precautionary landing due to weird cockpit readings, sounds or vibrations. Having crashed once, and done a couple precautionary landings, I fully understand these.

I've also landed just long enough to get out to take a piss, more than once! 8O  8)

Having flown helo's and fixed wing, helo's are definitely much more fun!

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
