I'd say I'm way smarter than you fuckers wasting time thinking your music is original...pull you head out and take a listen to all this electronic shit.
Are you brilliant because you import your fart sample as a clip and fashion it just so with effects?
Music is becoming a joke the more technology advances the less of a musicain you have to be.
How many of you have paid off you DAW and moved forward with profits from your compositions.
Any jackass can press a button now and they are considered a COMPOSER...
Fuck, even Dj's are considered musicians...WHAT ARE THEY PLAYING?!
So keep playing the mind fuck game you are with yourself, impress your friends and people online with your system specs...and just keep swallowing the spoon full of shit you are feeding yourself.
I am so relieved to be done with this bullshit.

I'm willing to bet that there are many, many more musicians who aren't using methods of electronic composition. Would you consider them to be wasting their time too?
So is it back to the cassette recorder and acoustic guitar for you?
Whatever floats your boat. But don't pigeonhole everyone who uses Live as being self-righteous computer nerds.
Also, I would consider a fart sample used extensively and ran through lots of effects a *bit* more musical than some hack with an acoustic guitar playing the same chord sequence with the same tired old rhythm.
edit: what were you thinking? ... flaming a forum full of Live fanatics!

actually I think the real joke here is you. we bought something we actually wanted. you bought live and realised you didn't want it, pretty smart right there considering you could have used the demo first.teknoguitar wrote:I'd say I'm way smarter than you fuckers wasting time thinking your music is original...pull you head out and take a listen to all this electronic shit.

you just sound bitter actually, you realised you couldn't become a wonderful musical artist and so now you're angry at the people who are still enjoying their purchase.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
You're right! If you can't think of creative ways to use this sofware you should sell it. Good Luck finding ways to produce sounds and spaces that aren't heard elsewhere. You're probably to original for the rest of us geeks.teknoguitar wrote:I'd say I'm way smarter than you fuckers wasting time thinking your music is original...pull you head out and take a listen to all this electronic shit.

what a dumbass!...mad because he can't figure out how to use the program...I think it would be hilarious if nobody bought it from him and he was out the cash...what kind of dipshit doesn't demo a program like Live before making huge investment in it?...LOLteknoguitar wrote:I'd say I'm way smarter than you fuckers wasting time thinking your music is original...pull you head out and take a listen to all this electronic shit.

You know, I've always been a guitar player first, but I've only played in two bands out of about six that had no synthesizers, and honestly, I liked the sound of the bands with sequencers and other goodies running better. It is fun to be the only instrument, but I've always like the sound of synthesizers, and drum machines, never understood people's complaints.
I at first didn't understand why anybody would consider a DJ that just spun records a musician, but then I've heard some music by those guys that to me was really good.
I was talking to my next door neighbor about it, he's a jazz/prog rock guy, and we both acknowledge that it's pretty wild that people who technically can't play a "real" instrument are putting out what I consider good, and innovative music.
People have always argued in favor of technical skill, but honestly, jazz bores me for the most part, same with prog rock, there are moments, but that's about it.

There's electronic musicians and then there's audio collage artists. A good friend of mine named Paul Norman (aka Monologic) is a musician. He composes all of his music, plays keyboard on all of his compositions and actually sits down and writes mixable "songs". On the other hand, I have many friends who do nothing more then sample a 16 bar loop off a record, throw a handful of premade samples w/effects on them and call it an original track. To be honest, it's not that collage artists are any less deserving of what it is that they create, but I do have a much deeper respect for the Paul Norman's of the electronic music world. People like that are able to create something truly original that most of us could never come close to reproducing because it's not already a sample or pattern in one of our folders somewhere.

I think teknoguitar is very frustrated because he has been having issues with Live 6 (such as samples not being found) and other issues which he did write to Ableton for support in a polite manner and got no reply or solutions to any of the basic problems he had trying to just use the program in a basic way.
Come on this is Live, most of us have had moments like these or will have moments like these, he is allowed a little rant on the subject !
Having said that, tekno, I see the anger talking but not the logic. Blaming other Live users for their choice of software daw and making sweeping generalizations about the userbase is not exactly the most positive way of finding a resolution
Sounds to me like you'd be better suited by a more traditional DAW such as (mac) Logic or Digital Performer or (pc) cubase, sonar, samplitude. Anyway tekno, sorry Live didn't work out for you, but like you say sometimes it's better to cut losses and move on. And Ableton lost a customer here - usually Ableton support is really good (imho) but this is one who got away from a customer service point of view...
