weird - keyboard inputs not working until preferences opened

hi,

i'm running the last version of Live 5 on a dual core laptop.

recently i've noticed that some projects, when opened, do not respond to any input from the keyboard (transport controls, file commands, anything at all). after much experimental clicking i discovered that opening the preferences dialogue then closing it again brings back keyboard input, even if i haven't changed anything.

please excuse me if this has been posted before - i did a quick search but couldn't find anything.

i've upgraded to live 6... still got the same problem.

anyone else?
