Last month I bought the M-Audio FastTrack USB audio interface.
It came bundled with the Live 4 software from Ableton. That was cool, so I rushed to register it as soon as it was installed.
Upon the registration I got the message, that the serial code included with the hardware/software was already registered. It was a hotmail address (that actually had expired - I know because I tried to contact the address).
I contacted Ableton, and got an automated mail back saying that it would be a while before they could get back to me, due to the release of Live 6.
A couple of days later, I was asked by Ableton to provide proof of the purchased software - and I sent back a copy of the proof.
I week later I still hadn't heard back, so I mailed and asked what the problem was. They never received my proof of purchase, they said - so I sent it again.
They said (a few days ago) that they would forward it to their orders team to resolve the issue.
Now I'm still waiting on a new serial code, in order to upgrade free from Live 4 to Live 6.
I expect the original serial had been floating around on the net as a illegal crack, but that's a shame for paying customers when they are having such problems getting what they payied for

Just so you are aware, your hardware probably came bundled with LIVE lite 4, not the full retail version.
The free upgrade path is to LIVE lite 6, not the full blown LIVE 6 retail version.
Just wanted to be clear on that before you got your hopes up.
Best,
AB
And, I don't know what the difference is, but there are bound to be some limitations.
