clipping problem when recording from Keyboard

Post by musicman29 » Sun Feb 11, 2007 7:49 am

Hello everyone,
I recently started using Live and have simply been trying to get a recording from my keyboard and mic for a song I wrote. however, it seems that I can hardly get through the song without many instances of clipping occuring from my keyboard. I turn down the volume and such but then the sound seems distant.

Also, when i record from my keyboard to match another clip I created from my keyboard, they are always off sync...I have a feeling it has to do with some latency setting, but I really don't know which.

Would anyone be willing to help a poor guy out???

Thanks
T

i say just record it low enough such that there are no clips in the recording. After that, you can pretty much crank it as much as you want to, so long as you do not clip the master output. Add a compressor plugin to tame the spikes a bit.

There is a lesson in Live which will lead you through the process of adjusting for the latency on your soundcard's external inputs.
