The resolution is 1.280 x 800.Machinate wrote:
Astral, what is the *resolution* on that 12" screen? If it's 800x600=Walk away
So is that OK?
Thanks so far for all your responses. I suppose that I should add that the real issue is weight. Actually, I really want something that weighs about 2-2.5 Kg. So I am assuming a 12" screen will be a lot lighter than what I already have. As I have already said, my 1.8 Centrino has served me well for the last three years but it is heavy to lug around. About 3 kilos, but including the carry case and power adapter it is about 4 or 4.5 kilos.
To remind you again, the machine I am interested in is a Dell XPS TM M1210.
Though while I am here, should I go for Vista or stick with XP Pro?
Thanks
I bought a MacBook for my wife- 12" screen. I love the portability and feel of it. The MacBook is very light, I might add. I am using a MacBookPro 17" (1680x1050) right now. It is very comfortable to use Live with. I think the 12"(1280x800) would feel a bit confining- but might work for performance, I wouldn't want to compose on it.

That's the same I have on my 13.3" - It's not a lot, but it's enough for me, at least.Astral Fridge Magnet wrote:The resolution is 1.280 x 800.Machinate wrote:

Is google broken? Are you asking how much your perhaps future computer weighs?Astral Fridge Magnet wrote: Thanks so far for all your responses. Sorry, not clear what i<3 means. Sorry.dep affect wrote:i bought a dell xps (12") a couple of weeks ago, i <3 it!
By the way, to confuse the issue I have also found this laptop on the web:
Satellite Pro U200 Series
http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ ... _ID=116666
Slight correction to the previous link.
And there is the Dell link:
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/produ ... l=nl&s=dhs
But the sites are in Dutch, but should be decipherable in terms of specs. So Dell or Toshiba?
Hope you don't mind me asking so many questions.

I find it's easier to get away with smaller screens (in case of usability, not resolution) using Expose on OSX.mike holiday wrote:i never had a problem seeing my 12" powerbook
but the macbook is pimpin with the 13" widescreen
I've gone from 12" powerbook to a 13.3" macbook. The new screen seems huge to me. Neither of them got in the way of me using Live.
I'd like a smaller laptop than the macbook though but until they make one (that runs OSX) I'm happy enough.
