Fot pc there is vegas that is quite easy to understand especially once you did use an audio sequencer. The soft work a bit like acid if I remember well.

for mac it looks you will be stuck with final cut but i think adobe premiere have a mac version

Your options are more limited on the Mac.

I use Motion 2. It's got tons of immediately useable presets, and the native MIDI control is fantastic. And it works very similar to an audio sequencer, so you should be able to get productive right away.

A combo of Motion & Final Cut would take some beating
but it depends what your budget is?

i really like VTrack (for mac) by u&i software who also make Metasynth
VTrack is very fast & easy to use & you can work to a tempo rather than
just timecode.... works wickedly well with Artmatic too

I use the consumer (less than $100) version of Vegas, and I have to say, it is really well put together, and very easy to use. So +1 for Vegas!

i use final cut express. it is a very simple, effective platform to work on.
