So, I have to ask....

Did the link actually contain a paris hilton video, or just a virus?

Paris Hilton is ugly, and anyone who downloads a video of her naked should be ashamed of themselves.
Seriously. Look at her squinty eyes and billboard forehead. Also, her body is like a ten year old boy's. Ugh.

I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers. 8)

It prompted to download Activex in order to see the video. When i downloaded the "Active x" a porn video came up and obviously the blond in the video was not hilton. At the same time i realize that this was the 1 post this person had written.

10 seconds later a pop up came up that said critical system warning, the name of the virus and "click ok to download solution or something like that. This happened to me a couple of years ago and i ended up buying false antispyware software. I already scanned my whole hard drive and found nothing. But im sill getting some popups from time to time.

I second AVG. but this is most likely not a virus as such (ie not self replicating) it's just invasive adware that's hijacked your browser.

"spybot search and destroy" is very good at removing advertising malware. It's browser imunization function for preventing future browser hijacks is priceless.

also it's provided as donationware.

for future reference - never, ever download video or image viewers from dodgy websites, and pay no attention to popups on web pages that try to tell you your pc is at risk for whatever reason and you need to download some crap from them, not ever, in fact never.

If I had a pound for every hour I've spent removing gator, hotbar and various porn viewers etc from my friends childrens PC's I could dine out for a week.

Setting your system to a previous system restore point might do the trick. If that works there's still a chance the virus will be there, so double check.
