Live 4.0
I can sync my video to Live now!
Every version of Live just gets more fun to play with!
So... do I need to buy a 64 bit processor now???
ouch... !

Re: YES!
Well, I'd say not so fast there. One of the projects I've been working on is hooking up Live to Pd through Jack. I can see what you mean if you're using Jack as a conduit to a VSTi host, but for other, weirder stuff, there will still be useful applications.dirtystudios wrote:audios jack
I'm really happy that Live is being upgraded, and the feature set looks great, but it's not making me throw away anything else I'm using. That's not to take anything away from Live, but it is to say that the drill of one's dreams doesn't make one throw out one's hammer.
I'm blown away. Thank you Ableton for listening to the MIDI needs of us folk. This is going to be an awesome way to integrate so many different technologies such as VJ software and lighting.
Yes, now you could pretty much sequence your entire lighting and video for a live show. What's cooler is that you can totally improvise with it on the fly! You can have all of your cues for video or lighting assigned to clips and trigger them on the fly or through scenes. You could even have one guy doing all audio on one laptop while the other guy was sequencing V & L on another laptop!
Guess you already know that considering that's what Plastikman is doing
. Nice visionary work, guys!
The only thing that would be really cool is if you could do a "freeze" on a midi clip to audio and then "unfreeze" it for editing. That would help on CPU utilitization AND stablize things for a Live show.

Abletons-
THANK YOU!
This looks absolutely AMAZING. My band start our new album next week for 12 weeks. Its going to be bliss with these new toys to play with. Then, when we tour it in October, we are going to have all our lights and video triggered by MIDI output. The timing of this release couldn't be better. You are GODS!
(Happier than a happy thing)

..
wow! I guess you are even able to record VSTi's as audio-stream directly in Live like you can using a Rewire2-application. Being able to use small MIDI-clips for from drumbeats etc. is fantastic too.
Thanks Ableton. This is a MAJOR update indeed!

OH MY GOD
Okay the most obvious change is the MIDI/VSTi support. It seems to be implemented exactly how I want it to be like.
But what about the rest:
- grouping and bussing of tracks! ("Layer instruments, submix tracks, record the signal from any track or group of tracks.")
- more sends
- unlimited midi ins and outs
- groove/shuffle
I'm stunned..
