Beat Repeater and External Sync

Post by nihad » Mon Feb 12, 2007 2:57 pm

Tried to sync Live (6 in my case) to an external clock generated by a Kenton Control Freak Live. Unfortuneally the tempo fluctuates all the time, which really isn't a problem except that when Beat Repeater is used the grid resolution seams to change randomly to the next larger value aswell ..

This should really be a priority to fix in the next update as the Beat Repeater virtually becomes useless when using external sync ..

my guess would be that the beatrepeat problem is related to the ext sync problem.
u should try and sort out the ext sync problem. which then brings us to the next question:

what hardware / os / computer specs?

if it's any consolation, there are already plenty of posts on the subject of dodgy ext sync... i had that problem with the remote SL! but now all is sweet using an m-audio 2x2 midibox just for midi clock.

i also have the maudio (then midiman) midisport 2x2 with the latest drivers. and kentons clock works good on my other equipment. actually the sync itself is ok, guess it can't be much better with midi anyway, but the beat repeater maybe should be modified to compensate for the dodgyness ..

don't know ..

(other hardware, winxp pro, p4 2,8ghz, 1gb ram, etc, motu ultralite ..)

well if the sync isnt too bad, then beatrepeat is at fault... perhaps its trying to track bpm too accurately (?) and resizing the record buffer too often - but then again i didnt code it so anything goes! probably better off emailing tech support.

maybe post an audio file to try and describe the problem more clearly.

have u tried instajungle - http://instajungle.com/

it's similar to beat repeat, doesnt have the flashy gui, but it works fine for me...
IMO, i prefer it because it has more control!

might just be the right tool for the job!

oh, and did i mention it's free... 8)

Which grid value did you select? Does it only happen with a specific grid value?
