Detachable Windows please...
Detachable Windows please...
When using my laptop for live I do like the way the windows currently default to.
However I would love the all windows ( midi editor, audio edit page etc.) to be optionally detachable so that I could arrange them over my two monitors on my studio machine.
Cheers,
Bagginz

that is a major change to the program, I sense it may be in Live 7, as it may not be a "service pack" type of upgrade to say 6.1 or 6.2 for example
MacBook Pro M3 Max, Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen, Ableton Move, LaunchPad Pro MK3, Behringer Edge, TecWav noise synth, Crank Sturgeon Plug Ugly contact mic, and oodles of effects pedals.

Agreed, which is why I said optionally detachable windows...
I like the defaults too.

Er... how would the ability to optionally a couple of windows negatively impact on you? If you didn't want to detatch them then don't.cs759 wrote:No - please not.
Otoh, if you got a second monitor, you would probably find the option very useful.
Obviously the .jpg posted above is a wild exaggeration. It wouldn't look like that at all.

Sorry, I just suddenly had the fear that Live would start changing into Cubase, when I have just got away from that, with a different window for every task. I guess they will have to think about how Live will be used on dual monitors as prices come down and more and more people get them.bagginz wrote:Er... how would the ability to optionally a couple of windows negatively impact on you? I vote for *optional* detachable windows. I'm sure they would speed up things greatly.

yuck- sorry but this is a
NO DETACHABLE WINDOWS vote.
ONE WINDOW is a HUGE reason, if not The MAIN reason why I, and everyone else who uses Live while PERFORMING, love this program.
Do you wanna be on stage in front of 600/more people, your 8-bar drum fill kicks in, and you.... are frantically searching for your reverb unit's detached window ?
I know you don't

Here's a countersuggestion:
Don't do this in terms of individually detachable windows, but views (let's say one per monitor for now.) Right now we have a single view that can be switched between two states: arrange and session.
There have been quite a few suggestions like "let me put the clip editor on the other screen!" It would look kind of silly sitting there on its own (since by design it usually takes up way less than half the vertical space on the screen) but why not let us make our own views, but enforce the really nice UI layout rules you've already got? One screen could be (arrange & device) and another ((zooomed arrange or envelope) & clip), for example. That would be nice when doing "DAW stuff".
