TEXT TO SPEECH!!! ROCK ON!!!

Post by tiedyetrogdor » Sun Feb 18, 2007 3:04 am

I'm working on a project that will involve the heavy use of the Windows Text To Speech function. I just have a few questions before I can do it.

1. Where can I download FREE voices to use besides Microsoft Sam? That's all I have. Does anyone know how I can get "Microsoft Mary" and "Microsoft Mike"?

2. How should I take the audio file of the sentence and slice it so it will fit rhythmically in the song? I was considering making a Text To Speech SAMPLER out of a Yahoo Widget. Does that sound like a good idea?

Thanks in advance. By the way, does anyone else do weird things like this????

I use terminal for text to speach. (mac OS X has a lot of different voices).

I use it like this:
eg:

Code: Select all

say -o terminal.aiff "This is audio from the terminal"
This puts the output of the audio file into the root directory of your user account. Very usefull.

interesting... I've never gotten into terminal & keen to try it out.
Do I copy/paste that line of code into terminal, hit enter, then collect my aif from the user account??

NO!!!!! STOP SAYING GOOD THINGS ABOUT MAC!!!!! I WORK ON PC AND YOU CAN'T CONVERT ME!!!!!!

Oh, Sorry Lithium - I started typing before you had posted your message. SayIt looks good. Can you make two or more distinct voices with it? Can you work from another source to use the program "live"?

You see, I'm...trying to do a cover of Under Pressure (Queen w/ David Bowie) and want to use TTS to sing. I need two voices, cuz it's a duet.

No... Sayit uses the same voice. But Shit Talker is basically like the speech synth in FLStudio and has a bunch of voices to use...

I did this for a track which i'm planning to redo soon. Warping is golden for the voice phrasing manipulation.
