searched the archives and didnt see anything off the first couple of hits, so im trying here.

i just got a new macbook pro, and upgarded to live 6, fresh install on a virgin machine. now im trying to open .als files i've created in previous versions of live (4.x/5.x) on a previous powerbook. problem is the new ver of live 6 on the macbook isnt letting me open any previous files i've created in previous versions of live. i keep getting the "an error occurred while reading "file.als." apparently the document was created by a more recent, and incompatible, version of live than this."

more recent? unless i missed something somewhere in the setup, this doesn't make any sense at all.

so, out of all the people who purchased the new copy of live, i'm the only person who cant open legacy live .als files with a fresh install of V6.0.5?

just the fact the error message is saying the legacy files were made with a NEWER version of live is bizarre (and absurd).

Did you email support with your problems? It says right in the index they don't monitor this forum, and it's possible no one else has had this problem.

I also have a new macbook pro, and am getting the same error. Only I'm getting it when I try to open any plugin I have. (I've tried all the free MDA plugins and they all give me the same message about a "newer" version of live and "unknown compound stream type"). I can't get any plugins to work whatsoever... haven't tried mp3 imports though. Maybe others are having similar issues...

me too.
the same problem but with windows xp!

my file was created by live 6.0.1, and the same software on the same computer (windows xp) ask me for a more recent version (???) to open it.
today i've also uploaded Live 6.0.5 on my mac desktop but Live don't open the file and show again the error message:

"an error occurred while reading "documents/.../.../laftru.als".
Apparently, the document was created by a more recent, and incompatible, version of Live than this

[Unknown base type id 60]"

help me!!!
