Shoegaze Synth Sound

Hello,
I was just wondering if any of you knew how to get a synth sound in Live(5) that is similar to "shoegaze"bands. I mainly really enjoy the sound of The Radio Dept and especially M83.

Anyone got any pointers on how to create an M83 sounding synth?

Learn a new word each day. I had never heard of the shoegaze genre.

Thanks, that is a pretty cool resource. They have lots of info on guitar pedal rigs. Sadly, they don't have much on computer based synths...

Anyone else?

i would recommend buying the covert operators surgical tools for
operator and checking the pads/keys folder
they have some lovely stuff in
if u want add some saturator???

Pretty much any synth can do it. Just drench it in reverb/delay/chorus/phaser.

Haha, yeah that is always a great/easy way to get the default shoegaze synth.
I just wanted something more, I am not sure how to say it...

On the newest CD, the tracks "lower your eyelids to die with the sun" and "asterick"
are my favorite, such amazing synths...

I think that heavy layering as well as a good, interestingly programmed, delay are my favorite ways to get a good shoe-gazy sound. M83 do have a particular synth sound that I think is actually fairly characteristic of them, that blends well with their guitar-heavy sound, but I'm not sure exactly how to get that in particular. I tend to use zebra 2 but I think any general purpose synth could get this sound with the right programming, and the right layering. Layering being the real key IMO: I've seen an interview with Ulrich Schnauss where he says that some of the songs in "faraway trains passing by" have like 80 layers. (edit: actually this was about "a strangely isolated place", the quote was from here if you're interested.)

You should check out the public beta of more feedback machine 2. Really good delay for this kind of stuff, and will work through the end of march.
