Free Upgrade to Live 6 lite?

Post by jtomorrow » Fri Feb 16, 2007 5:04 am

Hello there Ladies & Gentlemen . . .
I just got am e-mail from ableton inviting me to upgrade from Live 5 lite Line 6 version (came with my Line 6 KB37) to Live 6 lite Line 6 version.

Before I take them up on this offer, I wanted to see what everyone else had to say about Live 6. After reading post-after-post of bugs, problems, and audio glitches, this upgrade scares the crap outta me!

Here's my question(s):
How long will this free upgrade be available?
Will it expire after the bugs are fixed and they release a stable recording product?
Why would I buy the full-version when there are way too many "no response" from Ableton posts?

They even got the balls to change the folder structure and tell you that you will lose presets, but not give a crystal clear explanation of how to get them back! How many hours of technical BS will we go through only to recreate tracks of creativity that took us days to capture?

After many weeks of tweaking, configuring, and working out my own audio glitch problems, I finally took off my techie propeller beanie and strapped on my guitar . . . and believe it or not. . . . I started making music! Huzza!

Isn't that why we sunk countless dollars into all this digital gear in the first place? We're musicians that never wanted to give a rat's ass about cpu, mhz, buffers, etc! We just want to rock-n-roll all night and party every day. . . . and hopefully wake up to a great recorded track!

Maybe we should take a free downgrade and go back to analog tape where the only problem I ever had was recording on the wrong track. . . . wanna hit this again, man?

So, what say you? Upgrade to Live 6. . . or not?

Well, gee. I have the Live Lite M-Audio Powered Enhanced blah blah blah edition, and I think I like it. I wish it would let me do more...

When I upgraded I don't think a whole lot changed (but I hadn't done very much by then). I did get to use 4 Audio and 4 MIDI tracks, which was a blessing from heaven. I wish I could have more, but oh well.

I'd say, take the free upgrade. Just don't uninstall version 5 - You can just go back to that if you want.

Hey tiedye-
Maybe I misunderstood or misread something, but I thought once you upgraded you couldn't go back?

Are you saying that the upgrade is a completely different install that you need to copy the "claimed" missing presets into?

Or are you saying just backup everything and if I don't like the upgrade, then delete it?

Thanx-
Joey
