oh yes
my rather excessive presence on this forum today is testament to just how badly I've been suffering that affliction, but In having to deal with it while I'm getting on with a tune, enjoying my last moments with Live 3 I started getting into a different train of thought about just how unique Live 3 is as is - and I totally understand why alot of people were saying they didn't want midi/vst.
in some ways it may always be more unique than Live 4 because you DON'T have the option of midi - so you end up doing things in a much more adaptive and distinctive way - I've heard tracks many times that I've been able to say were definitely done with the help of live, but perhaps with 4 the only fault of it is the very fact that we can use things like absynth etc more readily and thus the lines may get a little blurred and live becomes more the sequencer than the sound itself.
Don't get me wrong, I think Live 4 wil be absolutely, spot on my ultimate
music making tool , But Live 3 by it's very nature had a very unique way of doing things, which shined through - if you used absynth, you would use it as an audio file and manipulate it differently, while now we'll be more tempted to do real time modulation of Absynth by it's own parameters, rather than Live's
I doubt I'll stop using it that way, but thinking about it, in a way it's a
shame we weren't on 3 longer as Live 3 hs definitely made it's mark on this particular moment in music technology history with the whole clip
automation/real time timestretching thing - it's created an amazingly unique sound.
But regardless I'm so insanely excited about getting my hands on 4 - I guess that's when I find out that what I was just saying was complete bollocks, and instead Live 4 is about to take that uniqueness and completely nail it and change the face of this moment in music technology history!!!!!
