cables???

hi i have just purchased a motu ultralite and am in the process of my monitors. i was hoping (dumb question i know) someone could help me out with cable selection. im going to purchase from redco.com. i think i need trs to xrl female, can someone please tell me if im right. also do i need balance cables or are unbalanced mic/line cables ok? thanks and sorry for the stupid question ( i think im getting genelec 8030s)

Get balanced cables TRS to XLR. It really shouldn't matter if your run is less than 15-20 feet. The balanced help shield noise issues for long runs. However your equip could run different output levels depending on balanced or unbalanced with the nod usually going to the balanced end.

to go into your monitors i'm pretty sure you'll need to go TRS to XLR male, i can't think of any monitor that would have an XLR female input. XLR female would be from an external preamp's XLR out into one of the Line ins.
