photon X25 InstantMappings

Post by mots » Fri Nov 17, 2006 9:37 am

Hello,

i was trying to use Live with my Photon X25 the other night. i selected the photon as midi remote control and selected the template meant to be used with the photon.

I loaded the "Live" template on the photon, and basically none of the photon's transport buttons or knobs work. Is this template working ? as anyone tried it ?

what is the photon X25 supposed to control and how ?

thanks a lot for your help.

yes, i noticed this too about my photon 25.

luckily its so easy to assign midi control to things in live, so i usually just set it up different for each session im working on. . takes about one minute.

working here when I select a device like operator, auto filter ect..

did not try the play button

must use default sets for that one I guess.

Photon x25 is fun to use, I really love the sticky infinite knobs and the pitch bend but the drivers are totally krap ( even if they update it).

Must use it via a midi interface, not with usb plugged.

Works way better for midi only

so the photonx25 can only be used as a remote control device when using the midi ports instead of usb? can anyone else confirm this?

That is not what I say

I just say usb drivers from alesis ( that include audio support) are coded by a buns of young nymphets in a childkeeping service.

I've found the controller ( like control) far more usable and crash free in my setup without the usb connection.

anyway

select it as a remote controller, do not load any template, load operator, select the pluggin ( you can also lock the surface on it) start messing with knobs, suppose to be auto mapped ( filter ect).

As i said before, the play button on the controller is for being use with the alesis template not with ableton auto mapping ( did I say this ? )

Throw the little paper on your controller to trash and have fun guys :)

I spoke with a guy at Sweetwater today. He suggested making a Live Set doc with all my MIDI mapped out (on Mac, it's CMD + M), and then using that as my starting point or blank document. Then all the basics are done, and you can add more mapping for the specific set.
