Novation SL - Universal Automap - Today?

Yep, template #38 is plugin auto-mapping only, template #40 as you were before, plugins and mixer.

Edit: Just checked again, you do still have most of the transport control in #38, just not global record or double stop to reset to zero.

So, the issues discovered so far (due to either user or software errors):

1. 'Enable Pot Pickup' setting has no effect (parameters simply jump to the next transmitted value when switching between plugins);
2. No tempo control from Remote;
3. Reduced transport control in #38;
4. 'Automap Focus Follows Plug-in UI' setting has no effect (the manual states 'activating this causes the SL to map to which ever plug-in is currently selected in your DAW' - I still have to manually enable the 'A' on the automap strip to get the remote to switch plugin mappings)

I/we may be missing something here, so share you findings!

The point is that for those of us with motorized faders specifically dedicated to this task already. it is redundant, whereas instead we get more control over needed, on-the-fly demands.

If I understand this feature correctly, it is a request that I was begging for.

Has anyone gotten the Automap Plug-In manager program to work? I get an error saying it can't create resource files in the Plug-In directory. And when I try to drag he installed plugs into the automap enabled side, nothing appears. Ditto in Live, no automap version plugs available. This is baffling, the SL itself updated just fine.

I got the 3.0 OS after changing my ID port back to USBA, but no template updates. Also, my computer doesn't recognise the SL anymore (XP saying it's a new device), haven't launched Live yet to see what's up.

Shit, guess it was my turn to have problems, I dodged a lot of bullets with this beast.

Any tips? Will try later...

I'm sure you did similar, but this is what I did...

1. Uninstall the previous remote software
2. Switch the remote off
3. Install the new software, following the instructions about switching on/off, etc.

Maybe something to do with folder permissions? When you drag the plugins to the automap enabled side in the manager an 'Automap' wrapper is created alongside the original plugin that can then be loaded as a plugin within Live (or whatever DAW you're using) - for some reason your manager can't created the wrappers.

I have some good news chaps.

Called up Novation just now and mentioned the "Pot/Fader pickup" feature in the Automap Server settings not working (getting jumps when switching plugins either via Ableton track switching or using the SL directly).

He'll be looking into it as I'm typing this as they want a solid release ASAP.

He asked to keep an eye on http://88.208.201.18/answerbase/category.php?id=39
for any changes etc or even the downloads area.

By the way, lots of problems have answers in the answer base area (link above) - you might wanna check it out if you're having major issues.

If the parameter jump bug is fixed, I'll have to agree: it's a fucking nice controller to have at the moment to control those crazy plugins!

Can you see any noticable affect of switching the 'Automap Focus Follows Plug-in UI' on/off? Doesn't seem to make any difference for me.

I see what you mean though, if it's not working and you actually want it to retain a plugin while switching to other tracks, it'd annoy you!
