crashes when deleting time zones with deactivated clips

Post by peeddrroo » Fri Feb 23, 2007 1:57 pm

i think the thread title is long enough to explain all of the problem :)

anyway, this happens SO OFTEN: when i do time zone operation (esp deleting a zone: Ctrl-Shift-Del) live warns me that it's going to crash, but actually doesnt'.
if i remove all the deactivated clips in the zone, then it works without any warning.
it is quite annoying to have to check for deactivated clips each time i do such an operation.

Hi peeddrroo,

Which version are you currently using? It does not happen to me on 6.0.5:

-have some deactivated clips in arrangement
-select a time range including a part of the deactivated clips
-hit CTRL SHIFT DEL

everything fine. What Am I missing?

it was the case with 603, can't remember in 605 but i'm pretty sure it's still there.
i couldn't find any reproducable way of doing it, but i'm sure i already sent you a set that had this problem (and that was reproducable).
it's not as simple as deactivating a clip and deleting the time range. this would usually work. it happens on more complex sets.

Ok, if you have such a set, try it with the latest beta and send the resulting crash report to Alex.

yeah, live just tells you it's going to crash but doesn't.
but you can't actually perform the action until you've deleted all the deactivated clips one by one.

this bug also happens when deleting an entire track with some de-activated clips on it.

i can't be bothered to do some beta testing right now.
sorry.

Hi,

If one of you two has the time, try restarting Live (so the event recording is not too huge), create the bug, and kill Live via the task manager after it happend. Then on the next restart, you'll be able to create a pack (with the beta off course).

and what if we don't?
are you also investigating the problem?

i really don't have much time to do some beta testing and both sweetjesus and me are having hardware problems.
so please, check it. it happens about 10 times a day to me and is quite annoying.
thanks.

I reported this one a little while ago, but only a week or so before 6.05 came out. I got a reply back from the Abes that they could reproduce it in 6.03 and were working on it.

i've sent several crash reports and live sets about this problem during and after the beta-testing.

i'm a bit tired about it tbh.

Hi Peeddrroo,
Sorry, I was not aware of it. If Alex has it, it means he is looking at the issue. If you haven't yet heard about it, it means that either he is working silently or did not yet find his way to correct the bug.

Hi folks,

just a few words.

Peeddrroo,

based on the Live set you sent me the end of last year, we were able to reproduce this crash.

Synthbuilder,

based on the Live you sent some weeks ago we were also able to reproduce this crash.

Very probably both crashes have the same source. The crashes appear only in the Release version with disabled Bug Reporting Tool.
Therefore you will not be able to reproduce this one in a Beta version.

So, we are working on that crashes and hope to fix them soon.

Regards,
/Alex
