1. Can you automate track solo buttons?
2. Would it be possible to cut a peice from an rendered audio track and only edit that peice in an external audio editor (like Sonar does)?
3. Can I name my future ground breaking album after your company?

Hi, so great we will be able to use VSTi's!!
But will live display them in their original layout or in one adapted to live's layout (like the controls view in logic)?
Thanks a lot!
Katha
Ps: Live 4 & the new Native Komplete bundle - what else could you need? Dummdidummdidumm ...

Ableton Live 4, Acer Travelmate 800 Notebook, Centrino 1,4 GHz Prozessor, 512 MB Ram, Doepfer Pocket Dial Midi Controller, stripped down WinXP, Terratec Producer Phase 26 USB, fast (7200 rpm) internal hard drive (Hitachi).

I found this quote which ableton released after the introduction of Live 3:
"With a heavy heart we decided not to embark on the audio engine redesign for Live 3, for one reason: you would not have seen a Live 3 upgrade this year. We instead decided for a timely Live 3 that opens up exciting new creative possibilities. I hope that, once you see Live 3 in action, you will agree this was the right decision.
As so many Live users say an audio performance boost is the most urgent improvement they want to see, we now do what we never do: we commit to address this issue with the next major release."
If they kept their word ... they rewrote the code ... if they rewrote the code ... I'm sure it's altivec ... let's hope. - We could get 40-100% boost on our G4/G5 computers.

Completely guessing here, but don't you imagine it'll be the same as now for vst fx ie you can play with Ableton-style parameter sliders or click the button and get the 'real' interface?

Mysterious silence from Live HQ about Altivec on the Mac...come on Abletons, if you've got something to tell us don't be shy, we're adults (and then some), we can take it

Altivec, yea or nay? If nay, what is the optimization?

Well- I think we can guess from the Abe's silence on this issue and lack of the word "Altivec" in the press release- that this was NOT fully Altivec optimized- having "guessed" this, Robert- can you give us a rough idea of percent improvement for single and MP Macs running OS X?
Thanks in advance-
A dedicated user.

Can you now play a quicktime movie along with Live 4 ? And thus be able, at last, to compose film music without having to switch to DP, Logic, or whatever.... Please answer yes.

Is it possible to load two songs at once -- or at least load one song while the other is playing? It's not very 'live' to have to stop a song and load another. Despite all the other goodness like midi and the desparation from the mac heads about altivec this is still the no.1 issue for me as a user of live for live performances. i have to use a cd to cover the gaps and it's dull.

There is (on the mac, at least) a product that acts as a rewire slave and does just this. no reason to build it into the main code of live.

May 15th was the date after which one can qualify for the discounted upgrade to version 4. I don't remember exactly when I purchased the software, but I know I REGISTERED the software after the 15th. Is the registration date the relevent date when it comes to determining if I qualify for getting that discount?

If I'm not mistaken, Altivec is only for the G4 chip, and would not help so much for G5s. If they did skip Altivec optimisation, that may be the reason.

I was just a bit confused how the actual writing of midi data will be handled in Live 4? Will it be Piano Roll style? Matrix Reason style..Like
a analog sequencer? Can someone give me the infos? I did not see so
much on the Live 4 new features other than it supports mid
